Adam's Peak (Sri Pada) is a night climb - 5,200 steps up a sacred pillar of rock that draws Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, and Muslim pilgrims alike. The summit at dawn, with the peak's shadow stretching across the lowland mist, is one of Sri Lanka's great moments. Galle Fort below the tea hills completes the circuit as a perfectly preserved Dutch colonial walled city.
